Environment: Organizational and Product Impacts

The energy we use, the transportation of raw materials, our shipping logistics, and above all the choices regarding raw materials and the entire value chain, have a significant influence on the calculation of emissions and the environmental impact of the Telema Group.

Our supplier analysis has always included a careful selection process that considers the recyclability of the materials used.
Stainless steel (AISI 304, AISI 310) accounts for 80% of the materials used across most of the Group's product lines. In recent years, our procurement department has focused on sourcing recycled and 100% recyclable steel whenever possible.

Materials

This year, we acquired a software license dedicated solely to measuring and monitoring CO₂ emissions across the entire Telema organization.

An emissions analysis for each Telema Group product is also available upon request, conducted in accordance with the GHG Protocol, with the option to extend to a more detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) if required in the future.

These analyses form the foundation of Telema's continuous improvement process in reducing its environmental footprint.

Quality requirements of our welding processes are compliant with UNI EN ISO 3834 Part 2 and UNI EN15085-2 level CL1, specific standard for the welding railway vehicles and components.

Our company, the world leader for electric braking resistors for the rail market, was among the first to obtain the IRIS certification in 2009 with the subsequent transition in 2018 to the UNI ISO/TS 22163  maintained with the continuous improvements of our Quality System certified by DNV.

The quality programme of Telema aims to constantly improve the design flow, the internal processes. We believe the key to achieve top quality is our commitment to continuous development of proprietary technologies, which ensure that Telema products always meet the high standards expected by our customers. The quality of our products is dependent upon the quality of our designs. Supported by our engineers, we have one of the most comprehensively equipped test facilities of any company in our industry for full-scale testing.
Our philosophy of partnership with our customers means that we make available the full resources of our experience and know-how to ensure that we get the best in terms of weight, size and thermal performance; our customers get ‘right first time’ solutions that save time and cost during installation.

Thanks to the skills of our experienced team of engineers, our company is able to offer a wide range of technical solutions for any typology of industrial and rail applications.
Since our foundation, we cooperate with important national and international research centres  (i.e. CERN, ENEA, CESI, LABO VOLTA) in the development of resistors for specific applications.

Corporate Governance

Corporate Governance

Effective governance is essential for Telema to oversee the systems and functions dedicated to measuring and monitoring improvements in the environmental and social performance of both the company and the Telema Group.

The organizational chart below illustrates the main functions responsible for occupational health and safety monitoring, as well as environmental management system certification. These structures are part of Telema's organizational model, developed in compliance with Legislative Decree 231/2001, and are supported by an independent Supervisory Body (ODV) tasked with overseeing the model's operation and implementation.
